MALT Music Booking is part of the ongoing effort by MALT Music, Inc. to promote great music and great speakers to anyone who will listen. The people we work with are some of the best "unsigned" recording artists, bands, and speakers you'll ever want to hear. However, booking is all about numbers. Even if you're the best recording artist, band, or speaker in the world, but no one knows you're out there, you probably won't get many opportunities to do your thing! The more calls or contacts you make; the more likely you are to get booked. That's where MALT Music Booking comes in. We work with recording artists, bands, and speakers to multiply their efforts to contact potential venues.
Mike Yoder has been booking for himself, his band, and for other recording artists for the past 10 years. He also has a background in Human Resources, Recruiting, Staffing, and Contingent Workforce Management as a consultant. Mike is responsible for managing all aspects of MALT Music Booking services.
Any recording artist, band, or speaker who has the desire and commitment to book more performance opportunities or speaking engagements.
All recording artists, bands, and speakers are screened by MALT Music Booking prior to scheduling a booking campaign. You must submit either an EPK or hard copy of your promo pack. We prefer an EPK like those provided through Sonicbids. If you don't have an EPK, but you do have a web site with samples of your music or speaking, that is also acceptable. In either case--EPK or web site--simply forward the url of your EPK or web site to booking@maltmusic.com. If you need to send a hard copy of your promo pack (and CD), please mail it to: BOOKING, c/o MALT Music Booking, 1846 Hillmount, NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
Once your material has been reviewed, we will contact you. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in your EPK or promo pack.
Once your material has been reviewed and accepted by MALT Music Booking, we will schedule a phone call to develop a strategy for your booking campaign. Please allow at least 45 minutes for this phone call. There is no charge for this call.
During this phone call we will discuss your goals for booking, i.e. Are you booking a tour? Are you targeting a specific geographic area? Do you want to fill specific dates? Do you have any "anchor" dates around which you want to book to fill up your schedule? And so on.
We need to know your current schedule, where you have performed/spoken during the last 12 months, and whether you are getting radio play in any specific markets around the country. We also need to know what types of venues you wish to book, i.e. house concerts, churches, clubs, coffee houses, conferences, retreats, corporate events, or whatever. And, we need to know your fee schedule.
We must have a copy of the contract and (if you use one) rider you use when booking events. For bands, we also need a basic set list along with your typical stage plot.
After our consultation call, we will put together a written document that outlines your booking campaign. This will be sent to you in a Word document via email. Upon your written acceptance, we will begin the campaign.
As soon as we develop a campaign that meets your approval, we will get started. The total duration of each campaign varies with each client. However, the typical campaign will last from four to six weeks. Final reports are due approximately eight weeks after the beginning of the campaign.
There are two advantages of scheduling a larger number of calls: First, your cost per call goes down. Second, you are likely to get more bookings with the higher call volume.
# of Calls Total Cost
| 100 Calls | $150.00 |
| 500 Calls | $625.00 |
| 1000 Calls | $1,000.00 |
Calls are sold only in blocks of 100. For campaigns that involve 100 calls, payment is due up front. For campaigns involving greater than 100 calls, 50% is due up front. The remaining 50% is due when all of the calls have been completed.
If a venue responds with interest, follow up calls to secure the booking are not deducted from your total number of calls.
MALT Music Booking also gets 15% of the gross fee for any event(s) we book on your behalf. This is paid to MALT Music Booking as a deposit from the venue booking your performance.
No. We can only guarantee that MALT Music Booking will make the calls agreed to for your booking campaign. You will be provided with detailed tracking information that includes the number called, the date, the time, and the duration of each call, the total number of calls, and the total duration of all the calls. We will also provide the name of each contact and the result of each call.
If a venue requests your promo pack and/or a demo CD, you are responsible for sending them out. We will provide any such requests to you by email. It will include complete contact information for the venue/person requesting your promo pack.
MALT Music Booking will negotiate each booking on behalf the recording artist, band, or speaker. However, each recording artist, band, or speaker retains complete control throughout the process. All dates, fees, and arrangements must be approved by the recording artist, band, or speaker before a contract is sent to a venue for signature and payment of deposit.
